Online Education in Connecticut

Connecticut is home to four colleges that offer entirely online degree programs. Of these programs, 10 are designed for undergraduates, 11 for graduates, and 7 for those looking to pursue a certificate program. The best part about enrolling in one of these programs is that students do not have to step outside of their home to earn their degree! Classes can be taken entirely online at flexible times, and students don’t have to relinquish their jobs or neglect their personal obligations in order to pursue higher education.

The state awarded more than 20,000 bachelor’s degrees in the 2012-2013 academic year. College Board indicates that the average in-state tuition and fees came out to be $11,400 for public four-year universities, while the out-of-state average was $30,700, for the 2015-2016 academic year. While education costs are higher in Connecticut, the state has been strongly pushing financial aid efforts to make learning a more affordable and attainable experience for students. In the 2013-2014 academic year, Connecticut awarded roughly $40 million in need-based and non-need grants. Additionally, the state also set aside $106.903 million in tuition waivers, making online education a lot more affordable for students on tight budgets and wishing to get better work opportunities.

Because Connecticut has a good variety of schools to choose from despite its smaller size, it does a remarkable job attracting many out-of-state students.
