Today’s students typically have multiple pursuits to simultaneously handle and need the flexibility that comes with online education. Thankfully, there are currently 200 college education programs available in Minnesota through 119 institutions. The Minnesota Online Quality Initiative created and put the Quality Matters program into use. This program gives a set of guidelines for peer-review and a forum so that institutions can meet a certain standard level. This provides students with a benchmark for judging how well the online courses are teaching them.

There were over 20,000 bachelor’s degrees given out in Minnesota in the 2012-2013 school year. Tuition fees average out to just under $11,000 for in-state students and nearly $18,500 for out-of-state students. This is the 4th lowest tuition costs for out-of-state students in the nation.
Minnesota awarded $180 million in grants for those designated as need-based, with an additional $1.45 million in non-need grants for the 2013-2014 academic year. This makes up 13% of the fiscal support for higher education provided by the state. The “Prosperity Act” was passed by the state legislature in 2013 allowing some undocumented students to receive in-state tuition costs. The Minnesota Office of Higher Education website provides several financial aid tools for prospective students to look through.
