Choosing an online college to attend within Wyoming will be relatively easy, as there are only 11 degree granting educational institutions within the state. With the state being so sparse, it is incredibly helpful to Wyoming residents to have distance learning options. Students who may be several hours away from a four-year university, can instead sign up for one of the online programs and obtain their degree while studying at home. There are some useful initiatives to help students gain their degrees and certificates, which we will go over below.

Online Education in Wyoming
Tuition fees in the state are quite low, with an average of $4,890 for in-state students at a four-year school and $15,630 for out-of-state students. The state awarded over $15 million in need-based grants in the 2013 to 2014 academic year. There are two main organizations that help with online education. One is WyClass, which joins seven community colleges with the University of Wyoming. WyClass offers a directory of all the online courses students can take that would not be available at a college closer to their location. WyClass is a part of the Wyoming Distance Education Consortium (WYDEC), which was designed to improve the quality of each school’s online offerings by sharing resources.
The Wyoming Community College Commission joins together all seven of the community colleges within the state and helps students take advantage of all their resources. The commission has a useful directory of all the online programs offered at the seven community colleges. Students can also find help in enrolling in concurrent programs with courses more evenly split up between two or more community colleges. As you can see, Wyoming is taking significant strides to help its residents who live in the more rural and sparsely populated areas of the state to obtain a higher education through distance learning.
